Common Lands Book Deal, Preps First Memoir

While Jay-Z's Decoded is the book of choice for hip-hop fans at the moment, Common is ready to give Hov a run for his money ... with his own memoir.

The Chicago rapper recently inked a deal with Atria Books, where he plans to release his first memoir next year.

The memoir, titled One Day It'll Make Sense (the same title has his third album from 1997) and co-authored by Adam Bradley, is said to detail his rise to hip-hop, beginning from his childhood in Chicago's notorious South Side neighborhood.

It will also include detailed entries about Common's collaborations with fellow Chicago peer/producer Kanye West, including their journey to create hits like "Southside."

Much of his acting career -- which includes roles in films such as "American Gangster," "Terminator: Salvation," and "Just Wright" with Queen Latifah -- will also be a focal point of the book.

One Day It'll Make Sense is due in bookstores in June 2011
