Dr. Dre has long-promised that his long-awaited Detox album was coming soon ... but to date, there's still no official release date.
However, reports from TheBoomBox.com says that reliable sources are saying that the much-anticipated album will get a February 2011 release date. Interscope has yet to confirm the reports though.
In other Detox news, the hip-hop legend recently revealed that the upcoming album would be his last one.
In the upcoming December/January issue of XXL magazine, Dre explained that as he nears 46 years of age ... and surpasses 30 years in the music game, he's ready to begin to slow down a little.
"The only part that has been pushing me back is just the fact that I'm getting older, and certain things to talk about," Dre said in XXL's cover story. "I can incorporate other artists, new artists with this record [Detox], to say some of the things I won't say. It's been a little tussle in that area also, just because of age and being able to identify with the younger audience."
Later in the interview, he said Detox will indeed be has final full-length album.
"As far as me going into the mic booth, that sh** is over," he said. "I'm always going to talent scout and try to find new artists to work with. But, yeah, that's it. I don't see myself doing it the way I'm doing it now..."
Dre first announced Detox in 2003, and has delayed the album numerous times since then and/or pushed back.
The recently leaked record with Akon and Snoop Dogg, "Kush," is a first taste of what's to come. A clip for the song was shot in Los Angeles last week, but when it will be released is currently unknown.
